Sardina del Norte is a fishing village in Gáldar with a small dark-sand beach and a lighthouse at the end of the cliff. It is one of those corners tourism never quite reached: neighbourhood bars, boats hauled up, people sitting to watch the sea because they always have. Looking west there is nothing in the way until America.

- Walk up to the lighthouse along the cliff path, about fifteen minutes from the village
- Eat the day’s fish at one of the harbour bars

Getting there
- By car from Las Palmas: about 40 minutes on the GC-2, Gáldar exit
- Park in the village; the last stretch to the lighthouse is on foot
- The cliff path is unlit: for the walk back, a torch or your phone
- Combine it with Gáldar and its archaeological park, ten minutes away
Good to know · It is one of the few places on the island where the sun sinks into the sea on any day of the year: no need to get the season right.
