On the northwest coast of Gran Canaria, the Natural Pools of Agaete —also known as Las Salinas— are three basins shaped by lava and linked by tunnels beneath the sea. The water is clear and calm, sheltered from the Atlantic swell, and next door lies Puerto de las Nieves, a white-washed fishing village where you can eat fresh fish.

Puerto de las Nieves

Getting there
- By car: about 30 minutes from Las Palmas on the GC-2, with parking near the pools
- By bus: line 103 connects Las Palmas with Puerto de las Nieves
- On foot: the pools are a few minutes from the centre of Agaete
