Some careers deserve a special kind of recognition. Opiquad, a company specialising in connectivity, cloud and cybersecurity, wanted to thank the people who have given more than ten years to the company by offering them an employee incentive trip in Gran Canaria. At Oceanworking we designed the package, handled the accommodation and activity bookings and supported the families throughout their stay.
A trip designed to be shared with the family
Each employee could share the experience with their partner, or travel with their partner and one child. Ten years of commitment are not easily summed up in a plaque or a company dinner; Opiquad wanted that recognition to be shared with the family too.
How we prepared each stay
At Oceanworking we put together a six-night package for every trip. It included the accommodation, car hire, access to our coworking space, a travel guide written by our team, advance planning of the activities and 24/7 support during the stay. Each element answered a different need: the accommodation and the car solved the basic logistics, the guide helped people find their bearings from day one, and the coworking space stayed available for anyone who wanted to combine the trip with a working day.

Holiday or workation: an open choice
Each employee could decide whether to use those days as a holiday or to combine the trip with a workation by making use of our coworking space. Although both options were available from the start, everyone who has travelled so far has preferred to enjoy the experience as a holiday and to book the full week.
Support during the stay
Oceanworking’s work did not end once the bookings were confirmed. That availability meant the families had a local contact to turn to if any question or unexpected situation came up during the trip, with 24/7 support throughout the stay.

What Federico took home, after 18 years
Federico was one of the people who received this recognition after 18 years at Opiquad. He travelled to Gran Canaria with his wife and his son, and shared what that experience had meant to him. This is an extract translated from Italian:
When they told me that Opiquad was giving my family and me a trip to Gran Canaria, the world stopped for a second. It was not just a prize: it was a deep recognition of these 18 years together.
Seeing the wonder in my son’s eyes and sharing this adventure with my wife was the greatest gift of all. It is in moments like these that you understand that, to your company, you are not only a productive resource but a person with a life beyond the office.
Thank you again to Opiquad, and thank you to Oceanworking for turning this dream into a reality organised to perfection.

What this case teaches us about recognition
Federico’s words reflect how much recognition can mean when it is genuine and connected to the person receiving it. In their 2024 report, Gallup and Workhuman identify five pillars of quality recognition: that it feels fulfilling, authentic, personalised, equitable and embedded in the company culture. These are general criteria identified by the study, not results measured in Opiquad’s case. Here, letting each employee bring their family brought those closest to them into the recognition and spared them from having to choose between the two.
The value of local support
Opiquad’s case also speaks to some of the priorities that appear in international research on incentive travel. The Incentive Travel Index 2025, produced by the Incentive Research Foundation and SITE with Oxford Economics, gathers the answers of 2,700 professionals from 85 countries. 75 % believe that incentive trips still hold significant value for companies. When choosing a destination, the study highlights three aspects: good flight connections, quality accommodation and the support of a trusted local partner.
In Opiquad’s case, that local support took the shape of advance planning, the travel guide, the accommodation and activity bookings and 24/7 assistance during the stay.
How we shape an incentive trip
A company does not have to arrive with the trip already designed. The starting point is understanding what it wants to recognise, who will take part and what experience it wants to offer them. From there, Oceanworking turns those needs into a workable proposal and coordinates everything it requires.
Together with the company we define
Which career or achievement it wants to recognise.
Who will receive the incentive.
Whether they can bring someone with them.
The length, the budget and how flexible it should be.
At Oceanworking we organise
The accommodation and the bookings.
The services and activities included.
The working options, if they are part of the trip.
The support before and during the stay.
