A day to explore the villages of Gran Canaria's interior, where the island keeps its most authentic character. Between cobbled streets, carved wooden balconies and the scent of local kitchens, we invite you to discover Teror, Firgas and Arucas without rushing. Culture, tradition and flavour, at a pace that makes you want to stay.
Teror
In the island's green heart, Teror is one of the most beautiful villages in Gran Canaria. Its cobbled streets and houses with carved wooden balconies hold an authentic, quiet atmosphere. Here stands the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pino, dedicated to the island's patron saint, a place of devotion that sets the town's rhythm. Walking it slowly is a way to understand where much of the island's identity comes from. Come on a Sunday, when the weekly market takes over the streets of the centre. And don't leave without a «bocadillo con chorizo de Teror» — a roll filled with the spiced spreadable chorizo the village is known for.
Firgas
Firgas is a picturesque village known for its fountains and Atlantic views. Its most celebrated spot is the Paseo de Gran Canaria, a stairway of cascading water and ceramic tiles depicting the Canary Islands. The town is also famous for its mineral water production, and among its flavours the berro (watercress) takes centre stage in local cooking. A calm stop before moving on. At El Rincón de Marcos, in Firgas, you'll find plenty of dishes built around berro.
Arucas
Arucas is crowned by the Catedral de San Juan Bautista, a neo-Gothic masterpiece built in volcanic stone. The town also holds a long rum-making tradition at the historic Fábrica de Ron Arehucas, which you can discover on a guided tour ending with a tasting. The town centre is lively and worth a wander. To close the day, we suggest a cocktail overlooking the Arucas cathedral from a rooftop such as Emblemática Rooftop.
